Samos International Airport Transfers

Samos is a Greek island located in the northern part of the eastern Aegean Sea, just off the coast of Turkey.

The island is 43 km/27 mi long and 13 km/8 mi wide and a great portion of it is covered with vineyards and the Samian climate is typically Mediterranean with mild rainy winter and warm summers.

When you arrive on Samos by air you will land at the only airport on the island, Samos International Airport, a small single terminal airport located 5 km west of Pythagorio on the southeast coast of the island, and 15 km from Samos town on the northeast coast.

Once you have collected your luggage from the baggage claim area there are 3 options of transfer within the island: rental cars, public buses or taxis.

Rental Car

The car rental desks at Samos Airport can be found in the arrivals/all users area of the airport.

Public Bus

The public transit bus runs between the bus station in Samos town and the airport during daytime weekdays and Saturday, but not on Sundays or in the evenings. There are 8 departures in both directions on weekdays and 3 on Saturdays.

The bus stop at the airport is located right outside the arrivals exit.

Tickets are purchased from the bus driver as you enter the bus and are 2€ per person for a single journey. Children under the age of 6 travel for free in the company of an adult.

Taxi

The 24/7 metered taxis can be found right outside the terminal and while they are technically operating at all hours the airport is only open between 06.00-22.00 so there are no taxis there at other times, unless there are flight delays.

Taxis can also be pre-booked for a set fare through several different taxi providers.

A journey between the airport and Samos town has the duration of around 30 minutes depending on traffic and will cost around 25-30€. Prices will vary depending on distance to or from your accommodation, size of luggage, number of passengers, time of day and what day of the week it is.

Journeys and fares to most other areas of the island tend to be less as the distance is shorter to most places.

Shuttle

Charter tour operators often have a shuttle transfer service organised for their travelers and hotels sometimes offer a service to organise it for their guests at an additional charge. It is also possible to organise it yourself using one of the several companies offering it.

Ferries

Samos is a popular island for island hoppers and if you arrive at Samos via flight, you can continue travelling on ferries. There are 3 ports on the island that will connect you with various places in the surrounding area as well as mainland Turkey, Athens and northern Greece.
